Prof. Dr. Monique Scheer, cultural historian and anthropologist, Professor at the Ludwig-Uhland-Institut für Empirische Kulturwissenschaft at the University of Tübingen, where she is also Vice-President of International Affairs. Before coming to Tübingen, she was a research fellow at the Center for the History of Emotions at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin (2008-2011). Her research areas include ‘material religion’, i.e. images, sounds, aesthetics and bodily practices of various forms of Christianity from 1800 to the present, and the historical and cultural variability of emotions. She has published widely on these topics in several volumes and various journals (e.g. in the American Historical Review, German History, History and Theory, Geschichte und Gesellschaft, Zeitschrift für Volkskunde).
